You Wear It Well Makes Chase Debut at Bangor-on-Dee

Get ready for an exhilarating afternoon of racing as Sky Sports Racing showcases thrilling cards from Bangor-on-Dee and Lingfield, featuring the highly anticipated chase debut of Cheltenham Festival winner You Wear It Well!
This Wednesday, Sky Sports Racing presents a thrilling afternoon of racing, featuring impressive cards from Bangor-on-Dee and Lingfield, along with an evening event at Southwell. The highlight of the day is the chase debut of You Wear It Well, the Cheltenham Festival winner, as she competes for the first time over fences in the Listed Yorton Mares' Novices' Chase at Bangor.
At just seven years old, You Wear It Well has established herself as an impressive hurdler, boasting five wins, including the highly regarded Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2023. Now, with trainer Jamie Snowden and jockey Gavin Sheehan at the helm, she is set to begin an exciting campaign as a novice chaser. Given her exceptional record over hurdles, it's no wonder she is viewed as one of the top contenders for this event.
Nonetheless, the competition is not easy. West Balboa, trained by Dan Skelton, stands out as a significant contender, having demonstrated potential over hurdles, particularly with a solid performance in last year's Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. Following an unremarkable debut in chasing at Worcester, West Balboa must improve rapidly to make her mark in this event.
The Irish contender Shecouldbeanything, trained by Gordon Elliott and ridden by Sean Bowen, has shown impressive form. With three victories out of her four chase outings, she presents a formidable challenge for You Wear It Well. Additionally, Space Tourist (Willie Mullins, Brian Hughes) and Casa No Mento (Nigel Twiston-Davies) add to the competition, completing a strong field for this Listed race.
At Lingfield, a strong lineup is anticipated for the Listed BetMGM Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies' Stakes (2.40). Sacred Angel, under the training of Charlie Johnston, is making her return to the track after a lackluster performance in the 1000 Guineas back in May. As a past Group Three winner, she will be taking on the all-weather for the first time with new jockey Billy Loughnane, aiming to bounce back to her best form.
Meanwhile, Doom, trained by William Haggas, began the season with impressive performances in high-caliber races but is now aiming to recover after a series of disappointing results. After taking a brief hiatus to regain her strength, she remains a contender not to be underestimated, especially given her trainer's recent successes in this event.
Another contender to keep an eye on is Iken, who secured a third-place finish behind Sparks Fly at Saint-Cloud before claiming victory at the same location last weekend. Ornellaia, who came in third in the Irish 1000 Guineas, will also be aiming to compete for a top position.
Given the impressive lineup on both cards, fans can anticipate an exciting afternoon of racing, with You Wear It Well expected to be the main attraction as she embarks on her first experience over fences.
