Frankie Dettori Dislocates Shoulder in Aqueduct Stalls Incident

Popular Italian taken to hospital after fall.

Frankie Dettori, the renowned jockey, suffered a dislocated shoulder after a starting stalls incident at Aqueduct Racecourse on Thursday. Dettori, who was aboard Pretty Liza in the ninth race at the New York track, was unseated by the Rudy Rodriguez-trained filly at the start, leading to the injury.

Following the incident, Dettori was swiftly taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment. On Friday morning, the 52-year-old rider confirmed that his right shoulder had been dislocated but reassured fans about his condition.

In a message posted on X, Dettori expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, writing: "I appreciate all the messages. I'm doing OK! I dislocated my right shoulder – my team here in the hospital have put it back together."

Dettori's decision to move to America at the end of last year came after a reversal of his initial plan to retire from riding. While the injury is a setback, his fans will undoubtedly be relieved to hear that he is on the road to recovery.
