Craig Lidster Contemplates Future for Five-Time Winner Alfa Kellenic

Alfa Kellenic Triumphs at York: Trainer Craig Lidster Eyes Future Glory Options for Rising Filly, Considering Ayr Gold Cup and Potential Step Up to Black Type Races.
Craig Lidster is contemplating the next steps for his stable star Alfa Kellenic following her impressive five consecutive victories at York.
After breaking her maiden on the all-weather track in January, she has progressed significantly over the summer in handicap races, climbing the ranks and winning with a rating of 88 at the Knavesmire.
The Ebor Festival triumph was the highlight of Easingwold handler Lidster's early training career. Now, he envisions even greater successes with the three-year-old filly, owned by Goodracingco in collaboration with well-known figures Paul Hanagan and Simon Mapletoft.

She is entered in next month's Ayr Gold Cup, and a trip north of the border is a strong possibility for the daughter of Havana Grey. However, given her versatility, having triumphed over seven furlongs, her connections are also contemplating a step up in grade to pursue valuable black type.
Lidster remarked, "We have high regard for the filly and have nurtured her development step by step. She hasn't put a foot wrong, and we believe she's talented enough that we may need to start aiming for black type races."
'The Ayr Gold Cup was initially a target, but we are now considering the entire program rather than focusing solely on the Ayr Gold Cup. It's still possible that we will participate, but we're currently holding off until we determine the best course of action.'
'You can't ignore the Ayr Gold Cup, especially since it's a £250,000 race. On the other hand, we might consider pursuing black type opportunities as soon as possible.'
'She still has a handicap mark to address, but much will depend on what the team decides. While I will have my perspective, their input will be crucial as well.
'There is a Group Three at Doncaster over seven furlongs, which is a potential option for us. However, we will make those decisions when the time comes. We'll be meeting next week to discuss and decide our next steps.'
